중년여성을 대상으로 인터넷 사용자 189명의 건강관리 실태를 파악한 결과, 자신이 건강하지 못하다고 생각하는 사람(25.4%)이 많았으며 유방, 자궁(16.4%), 골다공증(8.5%), 성생활(16.9%), 폐경(12.2%), 체중문제(63.5%) 등에 대한 문제를 느끼고 있으면서도 관리를 전혀 하지 않는 대상자가 유방 61.4%, 자궁 37%, 골다공증 34.4%, 성생활 84.4%, 폐경 95.6%, 체중 36%로 나타났다.

중년여성의 관심 있는 건강증진 분야는 주로 운동(16.4%), 체중관리(10.6%), 식생활(6.9%), 소화기 장애(5.8%), 관절염(5.3%), 갱년기(4.3%), 골다공증(2.1%), 노화(2.1%) 순으로 나타났다.
2. 여성건강증진 및 관련 컨텐츠 개발
요구도가 높았던 운동, 식생활을 포함하는 체중관리, 골다공증, 갱년기, 노화에 대한 정보와 우리나라 여성암 중 유병율이 높으나 검진율이 낮은 유방암 자궁경부암에 대한 컨텐츠를 개발하였다. 이 외에도 FAQ, 나의 건강상식, 통계자료, 관련 기관/사이트 소개 및 링크, 신문/방송, 학술, 학회, 교육 정보 등의 컨텐츠를 개발하였다.
3. 여성건강증진 홈페이지 개발
위에서 개발된 컨텐츠를 바탕으로 한국 보건사회연구원의 ‘건강길라잡이’의 하위 시스템으로 ‘여성건강’사이트(http://healthguide.kihasa.re.kr/kor/health/woman/index.html/)를 개발하였다.
4. 홈페이지의 운영 및 활용
가. 지역사회 보건소 대상자 교육용 팜플렛 제작
나. 인터넷을 이용한 웹 교육 및 평가
40-50대 중년여성 22명을 대상으로 홈페이지를 활용한 건강증진 교육을 실시한 결과, 유방암의 관리행동(p=0.002), 자궁경부암의 지식(p=0.005)과 관리행동(p=0.039), 골다공증의 지식(p=0.014), 폐경 지식(p=0.044)과 관리행동(p<0.001), 성생활의 지식(p=0.039)과 관리행동(p=0.002)에 대해 교육 전후로 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다.
5. 평가
가. 사용자 정보요구 만족도 평가
35-55세 중년여성 30명의 설문을 분석한 결과, 정보의 유용성 측면이 5점 만점 중 3.76점으로 가장 높게 나왔으며 시스템 효율성 3.72점, 시스템 편리성 3.46점, 정보 적합성 3.42점으로 나와 대체적으로 높은 만족도를 보였다.
나. 전문가에 의한 웹사이트 평가
간호정보학 전문가 20인을 대상으로 ‘여성건강’ 사이트를 평가한 결과 적절성, 신뢰성, 용이성에서 4.11점으로 높은 점수를 보였으며 목적성(명확성) 4.05점, 권위성 3.88점, 정확성 3.66점, 환류성 3.55점, 지속성 3.48점으로 나타났다.

Based on an online survey of 189 middle aged women, it was found that forty eight of them(25.4%) have at least one health problem. In detail, 1.6% of them have a health problem with their breasts, 16.4% with uterus, 8.5% with osteoporosis, 16.9% with sexual life, 12.2% with menopause, and 63.5% with weight control. Among those who have a health problem, very few did any prevention or promotion activities. For example, 61.4% of those with breast problem did not have their breast examined; 37% of those who have a health problem with their uterus did not have a pep smear done; 34.4% of those with osteoporosis did not do any prevention or management; 84.4% of those who have sexual problem did nothing to alleviate the problem; 95.6% of those who have a menopause problem did nothing to alleviate the problem; and 36% of those who have weight problem did not do anything for weight control.
Information on health promotion which middle aged women are seeking include exercise (16.4%), weight control (10.6%), diet (6.9%), GI problem (5.8%), arthritis (5.3%), menopause (4.3%), menopause (2.1%), and aging (2.1%) in order.
2. Contents development on women's health promotion
Based on the result of need assessment with high demand for information, contents for excercise, diet including weight control, osteoporosis, menopause and aging were developed. Also contents for breast and cervical cancer with high prevalence rate but low screening rate were developed. Besides these, FAQ on women's health, my health knowledge test, statistics, link to related institutes and web sites, newspaper articles/mass media clips, academic articles, conference, and educational information were developed.
3. Development of women's health promotion home page
Based on contents developed in the previous section, a Women's Health Site as a subsystem of Healthguide of KIHASA (http://healthguide.kihasa.re.kr/kor/health/woman/index.html/) was developed.
4. Operation and utilization of homepage
A. Development of pamphlet for a community health center clients
A small booklet was developed using information on the women's health promotion site and distributed to the visitors to a community health center.
B. Web-based education
As a way of utilizing the homepage, twenty two women aged 40-50 were recruited in a community-based gathering and health promotion education program was conducted. To test the effectiveness of the education, knowledge and attitude change before and after education was collected. There were significant differences in breast care attitude (p=0.002), cervical cancer knowledge (p=0.005) and attitude (p=0.039), osteoporosis knowledge (p=0.014), menopause knowledge (p=0.044) and attitude(p<0.001), sexual life knowledge (p=0.039) and attitude (p=0.002).
5. Evaluation
A. User's satisfaction
Thirty women aged 35-55 who visited women's health promotion site were recruited and asked to rate their satisfaction level with the site in different aspects. They rated 3.76 out of 6 point in the aspect of information utility, 3.72 in system efficiency, 3.46 in ease of use, and 3.42 in information validity. In general, users seem to be satisfied with the site.
B. Web site evaluation by Expert panel
Twenty nursing informatics expert panel were recruited and asked to rate the site. They rated 4.11 out of 5 in the areas of appropriateness, reliability, and ease of use; 4.05 for the purpose of the site, 3.66 for accuracy, 3.55 for currency, and 3.48 for update.
