Ⅴ. Conclusions and Policy Recommendations
❏ For the past six years (2015-2020), we have continuously operated programs for analyzing and addressing the biodiversity agenda, analyzing the biodiversity finance, cooperating scientifically and technically on the biodiversity-related research, and establishing the biodiversity policy development platform. Various achievements are as follows:
ㅇ We analyzed main agendas of CBD COP, SABSSTA, and SBI, identified global responses to these, and supported the implementation of the Third National Biodiversity Strategy of South Korea, the establishment of the Fourth National Biodiversity Strategy of South Korea, the publication of the National Report on CBD, and the government’s response to the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework.
ㅇ We established the basis for achieving global agendas and national goals by regularly grasping the financial status of biodiversity in South Korea, including government expenditures on biodiversity, biodiversity-relevant charges, and biodiversity-related ODA.
ㅇ We conducted scientific and technological cooperation among Asian countries in 17 sectors and especially established a remarkable cooperation system with China.
ㅇ We established a network of cooperation and exchange centered on research institutes and local communities.

❏ We look forward to the successful implementation of CBD, the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020, the Fourth National Biodiversity Strategy of South Korea, and the Act on the Conservation and Use of Biological Diversity by comprehensively operating the following programs in addition to existing programs: education program, public relations program, program to induce the green activity in private sector, program to share benefits resulting from the biodiversity utilization, and inter-Korean cooperation programs.
