The study of the satisfaction level on the curriculum operating system of the Science Core School This study is intended for the Science Core Schools which are located in Jeolla northen-province. The purpose of this study is to analyze empirically the level of satisfaction among the teachers and students on their school curriculum operating system, and to figure out whether the Science Core Schools curriculum has matched up to the teachers and students’ expectations. To achieve the goal of the study, we have done some prior analysis of the related library documents and studies. And we conducted a survey with questionnaire targeting the teachers and students to find the level of satisfaction toward the educational operating system of their schools. The subject of this research is the math & science teachers, second and third year high school students taking the specialized science courses in three Science Core Schools at Jeolla northen-province. The results of this survey are listed below. First, the survey shows the positive result in terms of the level of satisfaction. We can see the level of the teachers is higher than the one of the students. It can be assumed that most math & science teachers have come to get the feeling of satisfaction while performing the passionate lectures and observing the student’s academic development through the math & science focused lessons. From the point of view of the students, it seems like they could have great interests in the math and science through the various educational programs and creative experiential activities. However, the educational situation of our country put much focus on the college-preparatory. So it makes the result that many third year students have some negative ideas about completing the course in specialized 8-science subjects. The purpose of the setting up the system of the Science Core School is to elevate the importance of the science. So it is required to give the rational way of entering the universities for the students who have taken the specialized science courses. Second, the satisfaction level for the teaching-learning methods shows the meaningful difference between the teachers and students. On the survey, many respondents answered that the most common teaching method in their schools was teaching-based lecture. Whereas, the survey shows that the most preferred class form for the students is acting-based lecture. Science Core Schools has been improved in their educational environments, while expanding the laboratory experimental classes and organizing various project activities. But still the students demand more amount of acting-based lectures. Taking the lessons is at the center of the school educational system, and it is one of the crucial duties for the teachers to do the good lessons. Developing the efficiency of the teaching-learning method in the Science Core Schools would do a major role on determining the success or failure of their educational system management. To perform the successful management of the Science Core Schools, teachers would do their best on improving the teaching skills and changing their teaching method from teaching-based to student’s acting-based. Third, the survey has measured the degree of the influence which the school's specialized program has given on the selection of the student's future career. The results have shown the meaningful distinction between the teachers and students' opinions. Students think that the school extracurricular, such as visiting various science museums, doing science-related club activities, attending the speech of the specialists and participating in many science events have given a significant effect on the choice of their science related future career. But they think that doing science-related voluntary service and taking the specialized science subjects gave few influence on their career choice. On the other hand, teachers think that those all school extracurricular have given much influence on their student's career choice. So, it is required for the teachers to find some efficient ways which can make their students to have positive thinking toward the completing the specialized science course. It could be possible through enhancing the relationship between science curriculum contents and professional training. Fourth, the survey shows that the teachers have a good knowledge for the purpose and intend of the Science Core School's educational system. And they are proud of their school works and have a desire for pursuing their career in the Science Core School. The teachers feel great satisfaction while watching the improvement of their students' academic level, although managing the various educational programs has given a big burden to the teachers. Teachers suggest that holding voluntary workshops and conferences would enhance their educational professionalism and help the effective management of the Science Core School system. And they also have the idea that developing the educational programs and upgrading their teaching-learning methods would be required for the better school lessons. It is needed to set up the sustainable workshop and conference holding system, so that the math & science teachers could share mutual educational strategies and apply the efficient teaching-learning methods on their own lectures.
