This study aimed to analyze the influence of call-center workers' emotional labor and emotional regulation strategies on their mental health. 250 workers(64 male, 157 female) from six call centers located in the metropolitan area responded the Emotional Labor Scale(ELS), Emotional Regulation Strategy Questionnaire(ERSQ), and The Symptom Checklist-90-Revised(SCL-90-R). Using SPSS 21.0 program, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation analysis were conducted for the collected data. In order to examine the influence on mental health, the hierarchical multiple regression analysis was conducted. The major results of this study were as follows. First, the emotional labor was significantly different according to religion, job satisfaction, and major duty. Second, the adaptive emotional regulation strategies were significantly different according to religion, job satisfaction, major duty, and work experience while the maladaptive emotional regulation strategies were significantly different according to sex, religion, job satisfaction, and major duty. Third, the mental health was significantly different according to sex, religion, working hours, age group, job satisfaction, major duty, and work experience. Fourth, the emotional labor had significantly positive correlations with mental health. Fifth, the emotional labor had significantly negative correlations with the adaptive emotional regulation strategies while having significantly positive correlations with the maladaptive emotional regulation strategies. Sixth, the mental health had significantly negative correlations with the adaptive emotional regulation strategies while having significantly positive correlations with the maladaptive emotional regulation strategies. Seventh, factors having influence on mental health, were outbound duty, emotional labor, adaptive emotional regulation strategies, and maladaptive emotional regulation strategies. In summary, the emotional labor and emotional regulation strategies had significant influence on mental health among call center workers. Lastly, the implications and suggestions of this study were discussed.
