시험을 위한 기본 TMR의 사료원료는 soybean meal, smashed corn, beet pulp, oat hay, alfalfa, timothy, tall fescue 그리고 cotton seed을 사용하였으며, 각 corn silage 7.8% 첨가 TMR (대조구)는 rice straw silage 7.5% 첨가 (T1), 김치부산물과 oat hay를 혼합한 silage 6.2% 첨가 (T2), 김치부산물과 beet pulp를 혼합한 silage 6.9% 첨가 (T3)로 대체하여 4 처리구 3반복으로 in vitro와 in situ 시험이 실시되었다.

The study was performed to evaluate obvious chemical composition of Kimchi byproducts and to investigate effects of these supplementation to the TMR on in vitro and in situ rumen fermentation characteristics. In experiment Ⅰ, chemical composition of collected Kimchi byproducts from 23 domestic factories contained moisture (82.6-98.8%), crude protein (9.7-24.3%), NDF (6.2-38.0%), NFC (22.9-68.8%) and ash (7.4-60.1%). Experimental diets were 80% Kimchi byproducts mixed with each 20% oat hay (T1), 20% beet pulp (T2), and 70% Kimchi byproducts mixed with 20% oat hay and 10% beet pulp (T3). All treatments were manufactured by using Lactobacillus plantarum for 14 d. T1 was shown in decreasing from initial pH 4.79 to optimal pH 3.80, decreasing non-fiber carbohydrate (NFC) and acetic acid concentration at 14 d. Dry matter (DM) and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) decreased for 7 d fermentation period of Kimchi byproducts silage. T2 and T3 was shown similarly results to fermentation parameter with T1. T3 tends to be slowly fermented characteristic of Kimchi byproducts silage than T1 and T2. In experiment Ⅱ, TMR diets for dairy cow added with silage using Kimchi byproducts were used in vitro and in situ test of rumen microbial fermentation. The basic TMR diet (control) with corn silage to 7.8% was replaced by the following 3 treatments (3 replicates): 7.5% rice straw silage (T1), 6.2% Kimchi byproducts and oat hay silage (T2), and 6.9% Kimchi byproducts and beet pulp silage (T3) to the in vitro and in situ test. According to in vitro results, the pH value decreased to control and treatments for incubation time. Total gas production observed that T2 was no significant difference compared to control at most incubation times. The total VFA concentration of T2 was significantly highest at the 24 h (p < 0.05). DM and NDF digestibility were not significant difference with control and treatments at 24 h. In the in situ test, the DM and NDF disappearance of treatments and control was no significant difference with 12 h and 48 h. As the results of experiment Ⅰ and Ⅱ, silages using Kimchi byproducts did not differ to rice straw and corn on rumen parameters in vitro and DM and NDF disappearance in situ. The manufactured Kimchi byproducts silage of these experiments to the TMR reduce feed costs about 32,240-38,976 won/ton (November 2016). This economical value was high in T3. Silage quality and rumen microbial fermentation parameter results were elevated with T2. However, Kimchi byproducts are desirable as source of TMR by silage type for ruminant animals. Therefore, future experiments of Kimchi byproducts as feed sources are required to an in vivo test to identify possibility for practical applying to the industry.
