The purpose of this study is to adopt the approach of music teaching-learning method integrated with physical activities in researching music teaching plan for people with developmental disabilities, and thereby promote their development in the respective domain of sociality, attention and intellectual motor skills. In current studies involving people with developmental disabilities, researches with clinical or therapeutic purposes significantly outnumber those taking an educational approach. In order to complement such relative lack of studies on the educational aspect of people with developmental disabilities, it is necessary to conduct researches related to diverse music education for people with developmental disabilities. Accordingly, existing domestic studies and relevant literature were reviewed and the main contents from the review were adopted as the theoretical background for the present study. According to the literature review, it was found that group activities are effective for sociality development, while continuous engagement in areas of interest is effective for attention development, and that intellectual motor skills can be effectively promoted when physical activities are accompanied in the learning activity. Thus, an effective music teaching plan for people with developmental disabilities was developed by applying the above findings in music education. The contents of the detailed teaching plan included the following. First, after choosing two children’s songs, Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star and Three Bears, that people with developmental disabilities can easily sing along, as the instructional material and organizing two sessions of detailed teaching plan. the teaching-learning activities were implemented. Second, playing the melody staff, an easy to use instrument, was incorporated as a form of ensemble playing to improve the efficiency of the class and the attention level of people with developmental disabilities. Third, the teaching plan was designed to have the learners engage a simple movement at the same time they are singing and playing the musical instrument to raise the educational effect through physical activity. In conclusion, the sociality, attention and intellectual motor skills of people with disabilities can be improved by incorporating various educational approach and teaching methods in music education for people with developmental disabilities. Furthermore, this study is expected to be used as basic data for the development of music education for people with developmental disabilities.
