The purpose of this study is to suggest creative music class guidance plan for fifth graders in elementary school, focusing on the musical , using SCAMPER among creative thinking techniques. The need for teaching creative activities in music has been expanded with the social trend and curriculum that demands creativity today. In this study, researcher tried to develop creative music class guidance using creative thinking techniques, which are tools for creative thinking. Also researcher selected musicals that incorporate various artistic fields to seek creative music activities through links with other subjects. SCAMPER is a thinking technique that allows students to find ideas about problems using seven questions. After watching the musical, students can come up with creative ideas through seven questions to engage in creative activities. Also, the musical , which is the subject of the class, is based on the student-friendly fairy tale 『The Wizard of Oz』. The researcher designed 7 creative musical activities (10 periods) in musical by deploying seven different questions of SCAMPER. The activities were developed in order to experience diverse areas of music, art, dance, and play in musical. Each SCAMPER technique was deployed so that students could gradually expand and apply their creative thinking. The 1st∼2nd activity is to change the song lyrics of the work to suit one's situation by using ‘Put to other use(P)’ technique. The 3rd∼4th activity is to sing and play musical instruments together by using ‘Combine(C)’. In the 5th period with ‘Substitute(S)’, students replace the character with another one and present it as a role play. The 6th activity (using ‘Adapt(A)’) is to draw a picture of a familiar space by adapting the characteristics of the stage. In the 7th period with ‘Rearrange/Reverse(R)’, students change the order of the story and draw it as a cartoon. The 8th∼9th activity(using ‘Eliminate(E)’) is to remove one of the components of the musical, such as music, choreography, and dialogue, and to present the scene. In the final 10th period, students imagine and write the story behind the musical by using ‘Modify/Magnify/Minify(M)’. This study was applied to an actual class for 20 fifth graders in elementary school. In addition, worksheets which have a simple arrangement of music or some parts of the lyrics were produced for each time, allowing students to engage in creative activities or share their thoughts. The researcher wrote a teacher's class journal and summarized the worksheets which the students wrote their impressions. This study found that students became active and positive in music classes. It also found that the number of students who were struggling with creative activities decreased. In addition, many students learned the components of musical and understood the importance of each component. They expressed their impressions that various creative activities were fun. Therefore, the researcher suggests that teachers need to have an active and positive attitude toward creative classes. The researcher looks forward to studying the impact on students' actual creativity after music classes using the SCAMPER technique.
