(A Global Assessment of Recent Stress Scale; GARSS)를 작성하였다.

This study aimed to standardize the Parental Stress Scale (PSS) for parents of children with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) developed by Berry and Jons (1995) to be suitable for South Korean circumstances and to verify the reliability and validity of the Korean version of the PSS. We conducted a retrospective investigation of 160 parents (82 mothers, 78 fathers) of children with ADHD. The participants completed self-report questionnaires, such as the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), PSS, and Global Assessment of Recent Stress Scale (GARSS). The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 25.0 and AMOS 25.0. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses of the study tools derived two sub-factors and 11 items. The model goodness of fit was indicated by the following values: χ2/df = 2.09, RMSEA = .083, GFI = .903, CFI = .936, and TLI = .918. Thus, the scale was confirmed to be suitable for explaining parental stress in parents of children with ADHD. In addition, the standardized factor loading for each sub-domain ranged from .61 to .78, exceeding the threshold of .6, thereby confirming that each item well explained the factors involved. The average variance extracted (AVE) was 0.5 or greater, ensuring the convergence validity of the items. The AVE value of each factor for all the factors was greater than the square value of the correlation coefficient between the factors, thereby verifying the discriminant validity of the items. The concurrent validity was verified through the correlation between the PHQ-9, STAI, and GARSS. The Cronbach’s alpha of the Korean version of the PSS for parents of children with ADHD (K-PSS-ADHD) was .883, indicating that the scale had a high level of reliability. The analysis results confirmed that the K-PSS-ADHD had a high level of validity and reliability. We hope that the K-PSS-ADHD will be used as a basis for future studies regarding parental stress in parents of children with ADHD.
