This study aims to understand the interest of young learners in English education with physical activity and explore the difference of young learners' perceptions between face-to-face English classes and non-face-to-face English classes using videos. A mixed method was designed to conduct this study with 20 young learners aged 5 to 6 using questionnaires, interviews, and class observation techniques. The contents of non-face-to-face video classes and face-to-face classes were organized the same except for the presence or absence of face-to-face classes. Their responses during one-on-one surveys and interviews were recorded immediately after each class and all classes were recorded and observed to understand their responses in detail. The main findings of the study were as follows. First, it was found that young learners were slightly more satisfied with non-face-to-face classes than face-to-face classes. It seemed that the participant-centered class which is the advantage of multimedia-based classes and the low level of pressure for young learners from not facing teachers in real influenced the participants. It was shown that the young learners’ early exposure to the multimedia environment decreased their unfamiliarity to non-face-to-face classes. Moreover, many participants answered that the two types of English classes in this study were perceived similarly rather than differently. The perception that they had came from teachers, teaching subjects, and class contents, not from the difference between non-face-to-face and face-to-face. It was demonstrated that English classes using physical activity videos can be sufficiently used as a substitute or auxiliary for existing face-to-face English sports classes. However, it is necessary for researchers and teachers to prepare an appropriate education video for non-face-to-face classes considering the cognitive development and physical development of young learners. In addition, more research and efforts are needed on the diversity of non-face-to-face classes which is somewhat limited compared to face-to-face classes in which teachers directly participate.
