인구의 고령화와 만성질환으로 인해 직면하게 되는 문제는? 또한 인구의 고령화와 만성질환으로 인한 수명연장은 간호사로 하여금 고도로 전문화되고 체계화된 돌봄 수행을 요구하고 있다(Meraviglia, McGuire, & Chesley, 2003). 그러나 현실 적으로 병원체계가 의료적 의사결정에서 간호사－대상자 관계의 중요한 부분을 간과하고 있을 뿐 아니라 전문교육을 받은 간호사 또한 마지막 시점에서 어떻게 의사결정에 참여해야 할지 알 수 없는 상황에 직면하게 되는 갈등을 경험한다.
