최근 현대인의 생활을 방해하는 요인으로 휴대폰 중독을 생활변수로 선정하게 된 배경은 무엇인가? | 한편, 최근 현대인의 생활을 방해하는 요인으로, 사회적인 관심을 받고 있는 휴대폰 중독을 생활변수로 선정하여 매개효과를 알아보고자 한다. 2011년 한국청소년정책연구원이 초․중․고교생 6,500명을 대상으로 ‘청소년디지털 이용문화 실태조사’에서 전체 학생 10명 가운데 9명이 휴대폰을 소유하고 있었고 중․고등학생의 경우 약 95%가 가지고 있었다. 최근에는 스마트폰이 대중화 되면서 2012년 8월 이동통신 3사에 따르면, 스마트폰 가입자수가 총 3003만 명이 넘어섰다(Lee, Lee, Joe, & Kim, 2012). 청소년의 경우에는, 2012년 9월 경기도 교육청이 초․중․고교생 145만 1334명을 대상으로 ‘스마트폰 이용 습관 전수조사'에서, 중학생의 75.9%(35만 3554명), 고교생의 77.2%(34만 7053명)이 스마트폰을 보유하고 있는 것으로 나타나(Kyeong, 2012), 대다수의 청소년들 사이에서 휴대폰은 이미 필수품이 되었고 학생들의 일상생활에 영향을 끼치리라 짐작할 수 있었다. 뿐만 아니라, 본 조사에서 각 학생들의 하루 평균 휴대폰 사용 시간은 1~3시간이 45%로 가장 많고, 3~5시간 18%, 5시간 이상이 10%에 달했으며, 2.2%가 중독 고위험군(위험 사용자군), 7%가 잠재적 위험군(주의사용자군)으로 나타났다. 컴퓨터는 한정된 장소에서만 사용할 수 있으나 스마트폰은 가지고 다니며 시․ 공간을 초월하며 자유롭게 이용할 수 있음에 따라 중독성이 더 높을 수 있다. 더구나 청소년기는 중독발달에 취약한 시기임을(Shaffer & Bethune, 2000) 감안할 때, 청소년기 휴대폰 중독의 영향에 대해 자세히 알아볼 필요가 있다. | |
