The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of motivation for the selection of major and satisfaction in the major on the adaption of university life among university students and to present basic data to assist in the healthy adaption of university life. A survey was given to university students in Seoul and Chungcheong cities from October 13 to October 27, 2015 of 250 copies of the questionnaire distributed, a total of 242 copies were in the final analysis. For data analysis, SPSS 21.0 for Windows was used. As a result, there were correlations among the variables, the adaption of University life of university students was affected by the personal motivation, social motivation for the selection of major with the largest effect being class satisfaction. The explanatory power was 38%. In conclusion, it is important to develop teaching and learning programs and counselling students considering class satisfaction for improving the adaption to university life.

대상 데이터

본 연구는 서울과 충청지역 대학생을 대상으로 연구 참여에 동의한 학생을 대상으로 총 250명을 편의표집하였다. 표본수는 Faul, Erdfelder, Buchner와 Lang[11]이 개발한 G-power 3.
이후 참여자의 사생활 보호와 개인정보 보호를 위해 통계처리 시 개인 식별정보를 암호화하였다. 자료의 탈락과 손실을 대비하여 250부의 자료를 배부하였고, 그 중 불성실하게 답변하였거나 부적절한 응답을 한 설문지를 제외하고 242명의 자료를 최종분석에 사용하였다.

데이터처리

• 대상자의 대학생활 적응에 영향을 미치는 요인을 알아보기 위해 진입(Enter)방식 다중회귀분석(Multiple regression)을 실시하였다.
•대상자의 일반적 특성에 따른 전공선택동기, 전공만족도, 대학생활 적응의 차이는 t-test, ANOVA로 분석하였으며, 사후검증은 Scheffe test를 실시하였다.
•대상자의 전공선택동기, 전공만족도, 대학생활 적응 간 상관관계는 Pearson’s Correl-ation Coefficient로 분석하였다.

이론/모형

전공선택동기 척도는 정보연[5]이 개발한 것을 사용하였다. 2개의 하위요인으로 구성되었으며, 개인적 동기 3문항, 사회적 동기 4문항이다.

성능/효과

그리고 사회적 동기와 대학생활 적응의 각 변수들 간에는 통계적으로 유의한 음의 상관관계가 있었다. 그리고 대학생의 대학생활 적응에 영향을 미치는 요인은 전공만족 중 수업만족, 전공선택 동기 중 개인적 동기, 사회적 동기 순으로 영향력이 있었고, 설명력은 38%였다.
이상의 결과를 토대로 볼 때, 대학생의 대학생활 적응은 수업만족 및 개인적, 사회적 동기에 의해 영향을 받는 것이 확인되었고, 그 중에서도 수업에 대한 만족도가 가장 영향력이 컸으므로 대학생의 대학생활 적응도를 높이기 위해서는 수업만족도를 고려한 프로그램 개발 및 상담이 필요하다.

후속연구

둘째, 대학생의 대학생활 적응에 영향을 미치는 요인이 수업만족, 개인적 동기, 사회적 동기 외에 다른 변수들을 찾아내어 그 효과를 검증하는 후속 연구가 이루어질 것을 제언한다.
첫째, 대학생의 대학생활 적응에 대한 관심을 높이고 연구결과를 일반화하기 위해 전공별 대상자의 수와 범위를 확대하여 반복 연구할 것을 제언한다.
