4년제 대학과 비교하여 전문대생의 중도탈락 비율은 어느정도인가? 그런데 많은 학생들이 대학생활의 어려움을 경험하며 그 중 일부 학생들은 학교를 그만두기도 한다. 특히 전문대학 학생 중 학교를 그만두는 중도탈락 비율(7.53%)은 4년제 대학(4.9%)보다 약 2배 정도 높은 것으로 나타났는데(Higher Education Statistics Agency, 2013) 이러한 수치는 전문대학의 중도탈락이 4년제 대학에서보다 훨씬 심각한 문제임을 보여준다.
