The purpose of this study is to investigate the dietary life status according to smart device use among university students. In 2015, data was collected during a 3 month survey of the eating behaviors, lifestyles, eating habits, and use of smart devices of 550 university students, as well as their dependency on smartphones. To sum up, more irregularity of meal and undesirable eating habits were found among university students with higher use of smart devices. These results suggest that a control of smart device usage would lead to a more desirable dietary life in university students.

식행동 및 생활습관을 알아보기 위하여 아침, 점심, 저녁 섭취 횟수를 조사하였으며, 식사의 규칙성, 식사 양의 변화, 식사 양의 정도, 식사속도, 외식 빈도, 흡연 유무, 음주 유무, 운동 횟수, 수면 시간 등을 조사하였다.
자기기입식으로 조사한 신장과 체중을 이용하여 체질량지수(body mass index, BMI, kg/m2)를 산출한 후, 아시아태평양 비만진단기준을 이용하여 체질량지수가 18.5 미만에 해당하면 저체중군, 18.5~22.9에 해당하면 정상체중군, 23.0~24.9에 해당하면 과체중군, 25.0 이상이면 비만군으로 분류하였다.
전체 대상자의 스마트기기(스마트폰, 태블릿 PC, 노트북, 데스크톱 PC, 스마트 TV)의 종류별 사용 여부, 사용빈도와 1회 사용시간을 조사하였으며, 이를 이용하여 1일 총 사용량을 계산한 후 사용시간의 3분위수에 따라 스마트기기 총 사용시간 그룹을 상(6.4시간/일 이상, 평균 8.9시간/일), 중(4.7~6.3시간/일, 평균 5.7시간/일), 하(4.7시간/일 미만, 평균 3.0시간/일)의 3군으로 분류하였다.
Low-use군은 하루 스마트기기 평균 사용량이 3시간이며, 스마트폰 의존도가 다른 두 군보다 유의하게 낮은 결과를 고려할 때, 스마트폰 중독을 예방하기 위해서 스마트기기 사용을 하루 3시간 이내로 조절하는 것을 제안한다.
본 연구는 설문지법을 이용하였으며, 설문지에 사용된 문항은 선행연구(Jung EH 2011; Lee NN 2014)를 참조하여 본 연구에 맞게 수정, 보완하여 사용하였다.
대상 데이터
총 설문지 550부 중 530부가 회수되었고, 이 중 불충분한 10부를 제외한 520부를 분석 자료로 사용하였다(분석률 94.5%).

식사의 규칙성은 아주 규칙적으로 식사를 한다는 비율이 low-use군은 10.4%인 반면, medium-use군은 4.0%, high-use군은 5.2%로 나타나, 스마트기기 사용시간이 많은 군의 식사가 불규칙한 것으로 나타났다(p<0.05).
4. 식습관 평가에서 스마트기기 사용시간이 적은 군은 일정한 시간에 식사를 하며, 과식을 하지 않고, 우유를 매일 마시며, 가공식품을 자주 먹지 않아 전체적인 식습관이 바람직한 것으로 나타났다.
본 연구에서 식습관 총 점수는 low-use군이 2.9점으로 medium-use군 2.8점, high-use군 2.8점 보다 유의하게 높아(p<0.001), 스마트기기 사용시간이 적을수록 식습관이 바람직한 것으로 나타났다.
본 연구에서 운동습관, 수면시간, 흡연과 음주의 생활습관은 스마트기기 사용시간에 따라 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다(Table 4).
이상의 결과를 종합할 때, 대학생의 스마트기기 사용시간이 길수록 식사가 불규칙하고 식습관 점수가 낮아 바람직하지 않은 식습관을 가지고 있었다. 이러한 결과를 통해 대학생들의 올바른 식생활 유지를 위해서 스마트기기의 적절한 사용에 대한 지도가 필요하다는 것을 제안한다.
후속연구
이미 선행연구에서 보고된 청소년뿐만 아니라, 대학생들도 스마트기기 사용이 길어질수록 식사시간이 불규칙한 것으로 나타남으로써 스마트기기 사용량이 많은 이들에 있어 좀 더 세심한 식사관리가 이루어져야 할 것이다.
