교사들이 전문가로 성장, 발달하기 위해 갖추어야 할 조건은 무엇인가? Fromberg(2003)에 따르면, 교사들이 전문가로 성장, 발달하기 위해 갖추어야할 조건들이 있다. 첫째, 윤리적, 도덕적이어야 하고, 둘째, 인턴쉽, 실습, 4년제 학사이상, 지속적인 훈련 등 자신의 자격기준을 높이고자 해야 한다. 셋째, 전문화된 지식, 기술, 태도 형성은 물론 지식을 사용할 수 있는 능력을 지녀야 하고, 넷째, 전문성을 유지하고 향상시키기 위한 재교육을 지속적으로 받아야한다. 즉, 영유아교사들의 전문성은 양성과정, 자격증 취득과정 등 직전 교육을 통하여 기초가 형성되지만 교사가 된 이후에도 지속적인 재교육과정 참여를 하며 계속 습득하는 것이 중요하다.
