Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate humanistic knowledge, emotional intelligence, and communication skills among nurses and to identify factors influencing the communication skills of nurses in five hospitals. Methods: Data were collected from 248 nurses in hospitals from August 25 to September 9, 2015. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlations and enter method regression analysis using the SPSS/Win 22.0 program. Results: There were significant differences in humanistic knowledge according to religion, education, work department, number of night duty, pay level satisfaction, job satisfaction, and job performance. There were significant differences in emotional intelligence according to all general characteristics. There were significant differences in communication skills according to education, position, number of night duty, and job performance. Communication skills showed positive correlations with humanistic knowledge and emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence correlated positively with humanistic knowledge. Emotional intelligence was a significant predictor and accounted for 32% of variance in the communication skills. Conclusion: To strengthen communication skills, programs need to be complemented in order to promote humanistic knowledge and emotional intelligence for nurses.

따라서 의사소통이 제대로 이루어지지 않으면 그 결과가 치명적인 임상현장에서 간호사의 질적인 간호 서비스 제공에 필수적인 의사소통 능력을 향상시키기 위해서는 인간에 대한 이해와 공감을 위한 인문학적 소양과 감성지능이 어떤 영향을 미치는 지 파악해볼 필요가 있다. 그러나 선행연구에서는 간호사의 감성지능과 의사소통능력에 관해서만 살펴보았기에(Choi, 2010), 본 연구에서는 간호사를 대상으로 인문학적 소양과 감성지능 및 의사 소통능력의 관계를 파악하고 의사소통능력에 미치는 영향을 확인하고자 한다.
제안 방법
대상자의 인문학적 소양은 Kim (2014)의 연구에서 사용한 도구를 예비조사를 통해 연구자가 수정․보완한 도구를 사용 하여 측정하였다. 이 도구는 책읽기 소양, 역사 소양, 문학․ 철학적 소양, 예술적 소양의 4개 하위영역의 총 13문항으로 이루어져 있다.
대상자의 일반적 특성은 성별, 연령, 결혼 상태, 종교, 학력, 총 임상경력, 근무부서, 현 직위, 밤번 근무 횟수, 급여수준, 급여수준 만족도, 간호직 만족도, 업무수행능력에 관해 총 13 문항을 조사하였다.
본 연구는 인문학적 소양과 감성지능이 의사소통능력에 미치는 영향을 파악하고자 하였으며, 연구 결과가 근무부서의 특성으로 인한 결과의 편향을 막기 위해 다양한 부서를 동일한 비율로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 그리고 최근에 타인을 돌보는 직종에서 중요성이 부각되고 있는 인문학적 소양을 간호사를 대상으로 탐색하였다는데 중요한 의의가 있을 것이다.
대상 데이터
본 연구는 B시와 Y시에 소재한 3차 병원에 근무하는 간호사를 대상으로 한다. 연구에 필요한 대상자 수를 구하기 위해 G-power 3.
승인받은 병원을 대상으로 설문지를 배부하였으며, 응답을 완료한 설문지는 밀봉 봉투에 담아 연구자가 직접 회수하고, 설문에 참여한 대상자 에게는 소정의 선물을 제공하였다. 자료 수집을 허락한 총 5개의 병원에 총 250부를 배부하였고, 250부가 회수되어 100% 회수율을 보였으며, 응답이 불충분한 설문지 2부를 제외하여 248부(99%)가 최종 분석에 포함되었다.
데이터처리
· 대상자의 의사소통능력 영향 요인을 파악하기 위하여 입력 방법을 이용한 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다.
· 대상자의 일반적 특성에 따른 인문학적 소양, 감성지능, 의사소통능력의 차이는 t-test, ANOVA로 분석하고 Scheffe test로 사후 분석하였다. ;
이론/모형
감성지능 측정도구는 Wong과 Law (2002)가 개발한 감성지능 척도인 Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence Scale (WLEIS)을 Jung과 Kim (2007)이 번안한 도구로 측정하였다. WLEIS는 자기감성 이해(4문항), 타인감성 이해(4문항), 감성 조절(4문항) 및 감성활용(4문항)의 4개 하위 요소 총 16문항으로 구성되었다.
대상자의 의사소통능력은 Lee, Jang, Lee와 Park (2003)이대학생/성인용으로 개발한 의사소통능력진단 도구를 Lee (2013) 가 병원 상황에 맞추어 ‘상대방’을 ‘환자’로 수정한 도구를 사용하였다. Lee 등 (2003)의 도구는 해석능력, 역할수행능력, 자기제시능력, 목표설정능력, 메시지 전환능력의 총 5개 능력 요소와 7개 하위요소로 구분되어있다.
성능/효과
대상자의 인문학적 소양, 감성지능, 의사소통능력과의 관계를 살펴본 결과 의사소통능력은 인문학적 소양(r=.30, p<.001), 감성지능(r=.53, p<.001)과 통계적으로 유의한 정적 상관관계를 보였고, 인문학적 소양은 감성지능(r=.40, p<.001)과 통계적 로 유의한 정적 상관관계가 있었다(Table 3).
본 연구 결과 간호사의 의사소통능력에 영향을 주는 요인은 감성지능인 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 간호사의 의사소통능력을 향상시키기 위해선 감성지능을 높여줄 수 있는 실질적인 프로그램을 개발하여 그 효과를 검정하는 연구가 시행되어야 할 것이다.
본 연구에서는 인문학적 소양과 감성지능, 의사소통능력을 살펴본 결과 이들 간에 유의한 정적 상관관계가 있었으며, 인문학적 소양과 감성지능도 유의한 정적 상관관계를 보였다. 이는 인문학적 소양과 감성지능이 높을수록 의사소통능력이 높아지고, 인문학적 소양이 높을수록 감성지능이 높음을 알 수 있었다. 이는 Choi (2010)의 연구에서도 감성지능과 의사 소통능력이 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 대학원에 입학하는 간호 학생들을 대상으로 한 연구(Fernandaz, Salamonson, & Griffiths, 2012)에서도 감성지능과 의사소통이 관련 있는 것으로 나타나 본 연구 결과와 일치하였다.
후속연구
또한 본 연구에서 간호사의 감성지능과 인문 학적 소양이 관련이 있었으므로, 간호사의 인문학적 소양 함양을 위한 방안도 마련되어야 할 것이다. 더불어 미래의 간호사가 될 간호학생의 의사소통능력을 강화시킬 수 있도록 현재 간호학과 교육과정에 인문학적 소양과 감성지능을 향상시킬 수 있는 다양한 프로그램을 접목해야 할 것이다. 그리고 간호사에게 필요한 인문학적 소양의 속성을 파악하는 개념분 석을 실시하여 개념의 속성과 의미를 명확히 하고 그 개념을 측정할 수 있는 도구개발 연구가 필요하다.
