본 연구는 탈북청소년이 자신을 어떻게 바라보고 대처해야 하는가를 알아보기 위해서 탈북청소년의 적응유연성을 살펴보고, 이러한 적응유연성이 탈북청소년들의 자아존중감과 사회적 문제해결능력에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 살펴보고자 한다. 본 연구는 현재 남한에 거주하고 있는 탈북청소년(10세-25세) 223명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 자료분석은 SPSS 23.0과 AMOS 23.0 통계 프로그램을 활용하여 구조방정식 모형을 통해 분석하였다. 분석결과, 탈북청소년의 적응 유연성은 자아존중감과 사회적 문제해결능력에 모두 정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 적응유연성은 자아존중감과 높은 상관이 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 자아존중감은 사회적 문제해결능력과 높은 상관이 있는 것을 알 수 있다. 또한, 탈북청소년의 적응유연성과 사회적 문제해결능력 간의 관계에서 자아존중감은 매개효과가 있음을 검증하였다. 본 연구에서 북한이탈 청소년들의 자아존중감이 특히 매우 중요한 역할을 하는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 따라서 북한이탈 청소년들의 자아존중감을 강화시킬 수 있는 청소년 지도사 및 상담사 등의 전문가를 활용하여 전문적인 보호 및 지원을 제공해야 할 것이다.

This study examinedthe adaptive flexibility of North Korean adolescent defectors in order to examine how they should see themselves and cope with various situations, and analyzedthe effect of their resilience on their self-esteem and social problem-solving ability. The study subjects were 223 North Korean adolescents (10 - 25 year olds) living in South Korea. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS 23.0 and AMOS 23.0 statistical programs. The study results showed that the resilience of North Korean adolescents had a statistically significant effect on their self-esteem and social problem-solving ability. In particular, resilience had a high correlation with self-esteem, and self-esteem had a high correlation with social problem solving ability. In addition, self-esteem was the mediating factor between resilience and social problem-solving ability. The self-esteem of North Korean adolescent defectors played a particularly important role. Therefore, professional protection and support should be provided with the help of related experts such as youth leaders and counselors who would be able to enhance the self-esteem of North Korean adolescent defectors.

제안 방법

본 연구에서는 북한이탈 청소년의 적응유연성을 측정하기 위해 김현아(2006)의 연구와 이해리와 조한익 (2005)의 연구에서 사용된 측정도구를 바탕으로 영적, 지지, 의지, 강인, 인지, 또래로 6개의 하위 영역의 총 18 문항으로 구성되었다[27-28]. 자아존중감은 Rosenberg(1965)가 개발한 RSE 척도를 김정희(2001)의 연구에서 사용된 측정도구를 사용하였으며, 총 6문항의 단일 변수로 이루어져 있다[29-30].
따라서 탈북청소년의 문제해결능력에 대한 고취를 위해 이질성을 포용하는 훈련이 필요하며 통일에 대비한 노력들이 필요하다. 이와 같은 배경을 바탕으로 본 연구는 탈북 청소년이 자신을 어떻게 바라보고 대처해야 하는가를 알아보기 위해서 이들의 ‘적응유연성’을 살펴보고, 적응유연성이 탈북청소년들의 자아존중감과 사회적 문제해결 능력에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 살펴보겠다.

대상 데이터

본 연구의 실증분석을 위하여 탈북청소년(10세-25세)을 대상으로 남한 내 적응교육기관인 ‘하나원’을 퇴소한 후 현재 남한에 거주하고 있는 청소년으로 한정지었으며, 표본추출 방법에 대해서는 북한이탈 청소년관련 학교, 복지관, 단체 등의 실무자의 도움을 받아 연구의 원칙상 확률표집 방법을 사용해야 하겠으나, 탈북청소년이라는 특수성 때문에 눈덩이 표집(snowball sample)방법을 사용하였다. 본 연구의 통계처리는 SPSS 23.

본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 탈북청소년의 적응유연성은 자아존중감과 사회적 문제해결능력에 모두 정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 적응유연성은 자아존중감과 높은 상관이 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 자아존중감은 사회적 문제해결능력과 높은 상관이 있는 것을 알 수 있다.
