자소엽이란 무엇인가? | 자소엽(Perilla frutescens Britton var. acuta Kudo)은 꿀풀과 (Labiatae)에 속하는 일년생 식물로서 전체가 자색을 띄고 있으며 , 꽃은 8-9월에 피며, 잎은 엽병이 길고 잎 끝이 쐐기모양이며 끝이 날카로운 특징을 가지고 있다. 전통적으로는 감기, 산욕열, 황달, 각종 신경성 열병 등에 사용되며 지혈약으로도 사용되어 왔으며(5), 최근 자소엽에 함유되어있는 테페노이드(terpenoids), 페놀화합물(phenolic compound) 등이 항염증 및 항알레르기 작용, 항균작용, 산화방지작용 등의 약리작용이 뛰어나다고 보고되고 있다(6-13). | |
인체내 면역 활성은 어떻게 이루어지는가? | 인체의 면역계는 매우 복잡하고 다양한 면역세포들간의 상호작용에 의하여 그 체계가 유지된다고 알려져 있으며, 외부 병원성 항원이 생체내로 침입하였을 때 1차적으로 반응하는 선천 면역세포로는 단핵구(monocyte), 호중구(neutrophile) 및 포식세포 (phagocyte) 등이 있다(3). 이들 중 수지상세포 및 대식세포는 대표적인 선천면역세포로서 외부 항원을 포식하고, 면역조절인자인 산화질소(nitric oxide; NO)와 proinflammatory 사이토카인(cytokine) 을 분비하여 선천면역의 활성을 유도할 뿐만 아니라, 외부 항원을 인식하여 2차적으로 반응하는 면역 T세포에 전달하여 적응면역시스템의 활성에도 크게 기여하는 것으로 보고되고 있다(4). 포식세포들은 면역조절물질인 사이토카인들을 분비함으로 면역 반응을 매개한다. 즉, 포식세포로부터 분비된 다양한 사이토카인류들은 자기 자신을 활성화시켜 포식작용을 증가시키거나, 또는 자연살해세포 등의 선천면역을 매개하는 세포뿐 아니라, 후천성 면역을 담당하는 T림프구를 활성화하거나 분화를 조절한다고 알려져 있다(2). 후천성 면역반응은 주로 T 세포 및 B 세포에 의하여 이루어지고 선천성 면역반응 후에 포식세포에 의하여 제시 되는 특이 항원을 인식하면서 면역반응이 개시되며, 면역반응의 강도가 선천면역에 비하여 매우 큰 특징을 가지고 있다(2). |
