본 연구는 전통시장이 갖는 경제적, 대중적, 행정적, 역사 문화적 기능을 중심으로 전통시장의 장소성을 드러낼 수 있는 유 무형 관련 자료의 기록화를 위한 구성요소를 제안하는데 그 목적이 있다. 연구목적 달성을 위해 문헌조사와 서울약령시 스토리 아카이브, 광주 대안예술시장 아카이브 프로젝트 D, 대구 북성로 공구 박물관의 기록화 사례를 조사하였다. 문헌조사를 통해 물리적 환경, 사회적 요소, 경험/인물요소를 전통시장의 장소성 구성요소로 정리하였으며, 이를 바탕으로 전통시장의 대중적 기능, 역사, 문화적 기능, 경제적 기능, 행정적 기능을 중심으로 전통시장의 장소성을 드러낼 수 있는 구체적 기록화 구성요소들을 제시하였다.
