골관절염의 약물치료로 사용되는 것들의 문제점은 무엇인가? 약물치료로서 통증 완화와 운동능력 향상을 위해 비스테로이드성 항염증제(non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, NSAIDs), 진통제, 관절 내 스테로이드 주사를 시 행하고 있다2). 통증 완화 및 운동능력 향상에 유효성이 있는 것으로 밝혀져 있으나 장기간 사용하게 되면 소화기, 비뇨기, 심혈관계의 부작용을 초래한다는 보고가 있다3-5). 심한 관절 변성 및 통증으로 인해 삶의 질 수준이 극심하게 떨어질 경우 수술적 처치를 고려하기도 한다.
