이 연구는 발달장애인의 평생교육 참여의사에 영향을 미치는 변인을 탐색함으로써 발달장애인 평생교육 활성화를 위한 기초 자료를 제시하기 위해 수행되었다. 2017년 장애인실태조사 원자료 중 발달장애인을 대상으로 한 자료를 활용하였고, 발달장애인의 평생교육 참여의사를 종속변수로 발달장애인의 평생교육 참여의사에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 16개 변인을 독립변수로 각각 설정하여 로지스틱 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과, 발달장애인의 성, 연령, 장애정도, 가족지지, 생활만족도, 수단적일상생활수행능력이 발달장애인의 평생교육 참여의사에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 변인으로 탐색되었다. 따라서 발달장애인 평생교육 활성화를 위해서는 기관, 관련 인력 및 프로그램 확대와 같은 인프라 구축뿐만 아니라 발달장애인이 평생교육에 참여하고자 하는 의지를 향상시킬 수 있는 방안도 함께 마련될 필요가 있다.
