본 연구는 장애인의 삶의 질 제고를 도모하기 위해 장애인 평생교육의 지원방향을 탐색하는데 목적을 두고 있다. 본 연구는 목적을 달성하기 위해 28개 장애인 평생교육기관의 관계자 72명과의 면담을 통해 그들의 요구를 장애인 평생교육 지원체계 확립, 장애인 평생교육기관 확충, 장애인 평생교육 내용 확대 및 장애인 평생교육 방법 개선의 네 개 범주별로 구분하여 질적 분석을 실시하였다. 연구의 결과 장애인 평생교육은 생애단계별로 간격이 없이 공적인 지원을 지속적으로 제공받을 수 있는 지원체계를 확립하고, 장애인 전담 평생교육기관 외에 일반인 평생교육기관 등 지역사회 내의 다양한 기관과 시설을 활용하여 장애인 평생교육기관을 확충하며, 장애인의 생애단계별로 적절한 교육내용을 다양하게 확대 제공하는 방향으로 이루어져야 하며, 장애인 평생교육기관들이 상호 협력하여 장애인을 지원하되, 각각의 기관이 제공하는 지원을 조정하는 인력을 배치한 가운데 이루어져야 하는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 장애인 평생교육의 효율화와 활성화를 위해서는 행ㆍ재정적 지원의 확충은 물론, 현행 장애인 평생교육기관의 운영체제 개편이 이루어져야 하며, 운영에 관여하는 관계자의 인식도 개선되어야 한다고 할 수 있다.

In order to achieve this purpose, this study surveyed the demands on establishment of supporting system for lifelong education of individuals with disabilities, magnification of lifelong education agencies of individuals with disabilities, magnification of contents of lifelong education of individuals with disabilities, and development of supporting method for lifelong education of individuals with disabilities through interviews with persons concerned with lifelong education agencies. With this method and process, this study analyzed the demands of persons concerned with lifelong education of individuals with disabilities that lifelong education of individuals with disabilities has to be constructed with the system which supports the individual with disabilities to receive an appropriate contents of education with continuously as to the life phases without an gap, to magnify an agencies in community and content of lifelong education, to establish an interagency collaboration system for lifelong education of the individuals with disabilities, and to place a case manager for individuals with disabilities. Therefore after the birth of individual with disabilities, that is, the detection of disability, to be provided with educational supports needed in a lifetime in whenever and wherever, the supporting direction of lifelong education of the individuals with disabilities revealed in this study are as follows: First, supports system of lifelong education for individuals with disabilities has to established a public supports system without gap between life stages. Second, agencies of lifelong education for individuals with disabilities has to magnified a lifelong education agencies for individuals with disabilities in community. Third, contents of lifelong education for individuals with disabilities has to magnified an appropriate contents each life stage of individuals with disabilities. Fourth, supports method of lifelong education for individuals with disabilities has to established an interagency collaboration system of lifelong education for the individuals with disabilities and placed a case-manager that charge of control of support each agencies.
