Background: The purpose of this study is to investigate association between harms from the alcohol consumption of others and depression measured by Patient Health Questionnaire-9, perceived stress among Korean adults. Methods: This study used data from the 7th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2016-2018; n=9,668). We used multivariate survey logistic regression analysis in order to investigate the association. Results: Among participants, 5.55% had experience for harms from the alcohol consumption of others. Among them, 15.25% had depression and 8.97% had perceived stress. Multivariate survey logistic regressions revealed that objective depression and perceived stress were associated with harms from the alcohol consumption of others (objective depression: odds ratio [OR], 3.30; 95% confidence interval [CI], 2.32-4.70; perceived stress: OR, 2.04; 95% CI, 1.62-2.56). Conclusion: Objective depression and perceived stress was significantly associated with harms from the alcohol consumption of others. This study suggests that government agencies and policy makers should recognize current status, further, develop a plan to identify the causes of harms from the alcohol consumption of others and protect vulnerable groups.

이 연구의 종속변수는 PHQ-9 도구를 이용한 우울증 여부 및 인지된 스트레스 수준이며, 선행연구에 근거하여 우울증 여부는 10점 이상인 경우 우울증이 ‘있음,’ 9점 이하인 경우 우울증이 ‘없음’으로 인지된 스트레스 수준은 ‘높음’과 ‘낮음’으로 구분하였다.
이 연구의 통제변수는 성인의 우울과 스트레스에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 인구사회적 특성변수, 건강 관련 요인변수이다. 조사대상자의 인구사회학적 특성은 선행연구에 근거하여 성별, 연령, 결혼상태, 가구소득, 교육수준, 직업유형, 거주지역을 포함하였다[24,25].

대상 데이터

이 연구는 제7기 국민건강영양조사 원시자료를 이용하여 성인을 대상으로 1년간 타인의 음주로 인한 피해 경험과 우울, 스트레스와의 연관성을 분석한 연구이다. 국민건강영양조사는 국민건강증진법 제 16조에 근거하여 시행되는 법정 조사로 가구원 확인조사, 건강설문 조사, 검진조사, 영양조사를 시행하고 있다.
제7기(2016–2018) 국민건강영양조사의 조사대상자는 31,689명으로, 건강설문조사, 검진조사, 영양조사 중 1개 이상 참여자는 24,269명이었다. 이 연구에서는 제7기(2016–2018) 국민건강영양조사의 참여자 24,269명 중 연구의 종속 및 독립변수의 무응답자 12,617명과 인구사회적 특성 변수의 무응답자 52명 그리고 건강 관련 요인변수의 무응답자 1,932명을 제외한 9,668명을 최종 연구대상자로 하였다.

연구대상자의 인구사회학적, 건강 관련 요인 및 음주로 인한 간접 폐해 경험 여부, 우울증 여부, 인지된 스트레스 수준의 복합표본 빈도 분석을 통한 빈도와 백분율(%)로 제시하였으며, 연속형 변수인 만성질환 이환 수의 경우 평균과 표준편차로 제시하였다. 우울증 여부와 인지된 스트레스의 수준에 따른 변수들의 분포에 차이가 있는지 파악하기 위해 카이제곱검정을 실시하였다.

성능/효과

45%였다. 음주로 인한 간접폐해 경험이 있는 대상자는 우울증이 있는 경우의 15.25%, 없는 경우의 5.08%가 해당하였고, 인지된 스트레스가 높은 경우의 8.97%, 낮은 경우의 4.24%가 해당하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 음주로 인한 간접폐해 경험이 있는 경우는 19–29세, 미혼, 현재 흡연자, 고도 음주자가 많았다(Table 1).
음주로 인한 간접폐해 경험이 있는 경우 없는 대상자에 비해 우울증이 있을 오즈비는 3.30배, 인지된 스트레스 수준이 높을 오즈비는 2.04배였다. 이를 통해 간접음주폐해 경험이 통계적으로 유의하게 우울증과 스트레스에 영향을 미치는 것을 알 수 있었다.
음주로 인한 간접폐해 경험이 있는 대상자의 일반적 특성은 다음과 같다. 음주로 인한 간접폐해 경험이 있는 경우가 5.55%, 없는 경우가 94.45%였다. 음주로 인한 간접폐해 경험이 있는 대상자는 우울증이 있는 경우의 15.

후속연구

이를 통해 간접폐해가 발생하지 않기 위해 초점을 맞춰야 할 취약집단과 이미 경험한 간접음주폐해 경험이 개인에게 있어서 악영향을 미치지 않도록 피해 최소화를 위한 개입이 필요한 집단이 상이하다는 것을 알 수 있다. 따라서 연구결과를 바탕으로 성인의 음주로 인한 간접폐해 경험 발생 감소 및 그로 인해 파생되는 악영향을 방지하는 개입방안 개발이 필요한 시점이다.
