본연구는 도시 유휴공간 유형화를 통한 도시 내 정원 조성을 위한 새로운 공간 형태와 특성을 발굴하여 향후 정원 조성 시 활용가능한 가이드라인의 제시 및 그린인프라 확충의 기초자료 구축을 목표로 진행하였다. 그 결과, 도시의 유휴공간은 4개의 유형으로 분류되는 것을 알 수 있었으며, 각 유형별 조성방안에는 차별화를 두어야 한다고 판단하였다. 이러한 본 연구의 성과는 지역사회의 재개발을 통해 지역 사회 혜택 및 도시재생의 기회를 제공하고 지역주민의 건강과 웰빙을 지원할 수 있는 잠재적인 도시생태계서비스의 원천이 될 수 있으며 귀중한 도시경관자원이 될 수 있다. 또한, 도시 유휴공간은 도시생태계의 건강을 지원하고 도시 주민의 삶의 질을 향상시키는 데 사용될 수 있는 그린인프라의 역할로서 소중한 자원이 될 수 있다.
