Purpose: This study sought to analyze perceptions and attitudes regarding patient personal information protection according to the general characteristics of paramedic students and their clinical practice experience. Methods: A total of 215 paramedic students from G university in I metropolitan city and D university in G do were surveyed. Frequency analysis, percentage analysis, and one-way distribution analysis were conducted using the software SPSS version 23.0. Results: First, recognition regarding the operation of laws and systems related to medical law and personal information protection was high among students who had no clinical practice experience, and there were no differences with regard to students' general characteristics. Second, the level of recognition regarding patient personal information protection and exposure did not differ depending on students' general characteristics and clinical practice experience. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, students' recognition and attitude should be improved by carrying out continuous education on patient personal information protection. Furthermore, more specialized and systematic training related to patient personal information protection should be conducted to nurture appropriately trained paramedic students.

성능/효과

첫째, 의료법 및 개인정보보호 관련 법령과 제도 운영에 대한 인식은 임상실습을 경험한 학생들이 그렇지 않은 학생들보다 높은 인식 수준을 보였으며 일반적 특성에 따른 차이는 없었다. 둘째, 환자 개인정보보호 및 노출에 대한 인식도 조사에서는 일반적 특성, 임상실습 여부에 따른 차이를 보이지 않았으나 환자의 개인정보보호에 관한 교육 이수여부에서는 1학년보다는 2학년과 3학년에서, 임상실습을 경험한 학생일수록 높은 수준을 보였다. 환자의 개인정보는 환자 및 보호자에게 중요한 정보이므로 보호되어야 하며 타인에게 노출되어서는 안 된다는 것을 응급구조(학)과 학생들 대부분 인식하고는 있지만 명확하게 인지하고 있지 못하고 있는 실정이다, 개인정보보호 관련 법령과 제도운용 현황에 관련된 문항을 제외하고는 임상실습 경험 여부에 따라 개인정보보호에 대한 인식의 차이를 보이지 않은 것으로 나타났다.
학생들의 환자 개인정보보호 및 노출에 대한 인식도 조사 중 환자의 성명, 주민등록번호, 주소, 전화번호의 개인정보 노출정도에서는 성명의 노출정도가 높았고, 주민등록번호와 주소, 전화번호의 노출정도는 보통이었다. 입원환자의 정확한 확인을 위한 노출범위 및 방문객에게 입원환자의 노출정도를 조사한 결과 입원환자의 확인을 위한 등록번호, 성명, 진료과의 노출정도는 인식 수준이 높았으나 방문객에 대한 노출범위는 병명, 환자상태 등 모든 범위에서 낮은 수준을 보였으며, 개인정보의 노출로 인한 환자의 사생활 침해 여부와 병원에서 개인정보의 공개에 대한 인식은 보통 수준이었으나 유선 상 개인정보 노출에 관해서는 부정적인 인식을 보였다.
본 연구 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 의료법 및 개인정보보호 관련 법령과 제도 운영에 대한 인식은 임상실습을 경험한 학생들이 그렇지 않은 학생들보다 높은 인식 수준을 보였으며 일반적 특성에 따른 차이는 없었다. 둘째, 환자 개인정보보호 및 노출에 대한 인식도 조사에서는 일반적 특성, 임상실습 여부에 따른 차이를 보이지 않았으나 환자의 개인정보보호에 관한 교육 이수여부에서는 1학년보다는 2학년과 3학년에서, 임상실습을 경험한 학생일수록 높은 수준을 보였다.

둘째, 환자 개인정보보호 및 노출에 대한 인식도 조사에서는 일반적 특성, 임상실습 여부에 따른 차이를 보이지 않았으나 환자의 개인정보보호에 관한 교육 이수여부에서는 1학년보다는 2학년과 3학년에서, 임상실습을 경험한 학생일수록 높은 수준을 보였다. 환자의 개인정보는 환자 및 보호자에게 중요한 정보이므로 보호되어야 하며 타인에게 노출되어서는 안 된다는 것을 응급구조(학)과 학생들 대부분 인식하고는 있지만 명확하게 인지하고 있지 못하고 있는 실정이다, 개인정보보호 관련 법령과 제도운용 현황에 관련된 문항을 제외하고는 임상실습 경험 여부에 따라 개인정보보호에 대한 인식의 차이를 보이지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 임상 실습 전 환자 개인정보보호 관련 교육을 시행한 후에 실습을 실시했음에도 불구하고 의료기관 및 관할기관에서 임상실습을 경험한 학생들과 그렇지 않은 학생들의 인식 차이는 없었다.

후속연구

본 연구는 의료경력이 전무한 응급구조(학)과 학생의 인식을 조사한 연구로 학생들의 환자 개인정보보호에 대한 교육을 강화하고, 점검하는데 기초자료가 될 수 있을 것이라 생각한다. 따라서 본 연구를 기초로 하여 후속 연구를 진행하여 응급구조(학)과 학생들에게 개선된 환자 개인정보보호 교육이 지속적으로 관리 및 진행되어야 한다.
본 연구는 의료경력이 전무한 응급구조(학)과 학생의 인식을 조사한 연구로 학생들의 환자 개인정보보호에 대한 교육을 강화하고, 점검하는데 기초자료가 될 수 있을 것이라 생각한다. 따라서 본 연구를 기초로 하여 후속 연구를 진행하여 응급구조(학)과 학생들에게 개선된 환자 개인정보보호 교육이 지속적으로 관리 및 진행되어야 한다.
