극화하기는 약속하기, TiR(역할 내 교사)와 OoR(역할 밖 교사)로 세분화하였다.

The purpose of this research is to propose a method of teaching stories through dramatizing stories using process drama. Teaching story should let the learners not only understand a literary work passively, but also create a meaning actively through creative experiences relating it to their real life, which results in finding universal values from it. Dramatization of stories using process drama allows the learners reconstitute the characters and events feeling head and ears without any pre-written script. Moreover, since it is organized with episodic structures rather than impromptu stories, it enables the learners to create a new meaning for themselves beyond dramatic experiences ending up with 'meaningful inner change. Therefore, this research suggests dramatization of stories using process drama as a way of teaching stories. The second chapter deals with theoretical background regarding process drama and dramatization of stories in order to apply the strategies of process drama. The chapter 3 suggests the specific teaching procedure and method of dramatizing stories through process drama. Considering elementary learners' developmental stages and limited class time in the schools, the procedures of dramatizing the stories consist of 4 steps: creating an atmosphere, presenting pre-text, dramatizing, ending and evaluating. The stage of creating atmosphere is a hooking step to build up rapport between the teacher and the learners through physical warming-up in order to attract children s their mind to the special mood. Pre-text stage is the step to invite children to the drama, providing the context of the dramatizing stories. Dramatizing stage can be specified into making promises, TiR and OoR. Lastly, in the ending and evaluation stage, the learners clarify and share the meaning of their experiences during the dramatization. In chapter four, the dramatization of stories through process drama has been adapted to the 38 third grade students in B elementary school in Seoul for two months and the results have been discussed. The results of applying dramatization of stories through process drama to teaching story are as follows; First, Dramatization of stories through process drama helped the learners understand the text deeply by providing meaningful learning experiences for them to express the story physically and sympathize with the characters and their behaviors. Second, dramatization of stories enhanced the learners' insight into the life by having them see the life from a different sight and transit their self-centered viewpoint to society-centered perspective. Third, the learners understand the characters' situation reflecting to their own life, expand their perception to the object and create new meanings. Fourth, dramatization of stories increased the learners imagination and creativity by improvising images in their mind in a various way, not acting out memorized lines. Fifth, dramatization of stories brought about the effect of personality education because the participants reflected themselves. It might be difficult to implement the dramatization of stories in the classroom where one teacher have many children in a cramped classroom without any assistant. However, this can be overcome when the teacher make a detailed plan and lead the students thoroughly. Hopefully, dramatization of stories through process drama will be applied to teaching story method.
