Objective: This study was conducted to identify differences in nurses’ job satisfaction between nursing-caring integrated service wards and general wards of nursing‐caring integrated service hospitals. Methods: The subjects of this study were 171 nurses in nursing-caring integrated service hospitals with less than 300 beds located in P city. This study used the tool with 37 items re-modified by Hong Seong-jeong (2008) as a survey tool for the job satisfaction of the subjects, which was from 39 items translated and modified by Kim Suk-nyeong(1998), which was from 48 items developed by Slavitt et al.(1978). All tools used were approved by the tool developer and translator. Data collection took place from September 14, 2017 to September 30, 2017, and the collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe post test, Pearson's correlation, and hierarchical multiple regression using SPSS Win 23.0 program. Result: The mean age of subjects was 30.53±6.59 years old and the educational background was 52.0% of the associate bachelor's degree. The working wards were 57.3% integrated wards and 42.7% general wards. Total work experience was 86.09±68.87 months, and current department career was 27.20±22.70 months. 79.5% were in the form of shift work and average salary was 272.77±34.02 million won. The job satisfaction of the subjects was mean 107.86±13.86 points out of 185 points. The average of integrated ward nurses was 108.58±13.02 and the average of general ward nurses was 106.89±14.94. There was no statistically significant difference between the working wards(t=-0.79, p=.431). The job satisfaction of the subjects showed a statistically significant positive correlation (r=.46, p<.001) with the nursing work environment and a negative correlation (r=-.41, p<.001) with role conflict. In terms of the factors affecting the job satisfaction of the subjects, it was found that there were the nursing work environment(=.40, t=5.97, p<.001) and role conflict(=-.32, t=-4.85, p<.001) among the work characteristics. The explanatory power was 31%, and the regression model was statistically significant (F=8.60, p<.001). There was no statistically significant effect of working wards as job satisfaction factors. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that job satisfaction of nurses is affected by nursing work environment and role conflict. It is necessary to improve the job satisfaction of the nurses through the improvement of the nursing work environment and the definite role clarification at the organization level. And there was no difference in job satisfaction according to working ward between nursing‐caring integrated service wards and general wards. However, it is necessary to continuously observe changes in job satisfaction of nurses according to the progress of nursing‐caring integrated service ward operation since it is the beginning of nursing‐caring integrated service ward operation.
