남학생들의 간호학과 선택 동기는 어떤것들이 있는가? | 남학생들은 학과 선택 시 사람들을 돌볼 수 있는 직업이라는 간호의 본질과 철학적 요소 이외에 취업의 용이성, 전공을 살릴 수 있는 진로 등의 직업적 안정성 측면을 고려하며(Meadus & Twomey, 2011) 간호 분야에서 남성적 특성이 강점으로 부각되는 분야가 존재한다는 확신과 희소성에 대한 보상과 이득을 기대하며 학과를 선택하게 된다(Roth &Coleman, 2008). 이와 같은 남학생의 학과 선택 동기는 주로 졸업 후 취업과 관련된 부분에만 치중되어 입학 후 대학 생활에서 겪게 되는 여러 가지 상황들을 예상하지 못한 채 입학하게 되므로 학과생활 적응에 많은 어려움이 발생한다. | |
남학생들이 여학생들을 대할때 부담을 느끼며 여학생 위주의 주류 문화에 융화되지 못하고 소외감과 이질감을 느끼게 된 이유는 무엇인가? | 여학생들과 상호작용하면서 발생하는 갈등상황에서 남학생들이 기존에 해오던 대로 말하거나 행동했을 때 여학생들의 반응이 다르고 문제가 해결되지 않아 여학생들의 사고, 인지, 행동, 관계 형성, 갈등 해소, 의사소통 방식 등 ‘모든 면이 다르다’라고 느끼게 되었고 남학생들의 입장에서 그런 다른 방식들은 수용하기 어려웠다. 결과적으로 여학생들을 대할 때 상당한 부담을 느꼈으며, 이런 경험이 반복되면서 여학생 위주의 주류 문화에 융화되지 못하고 소외감과 이질감을 느끼게 되었다. |
