교육 분야에 적용 가능한 가상현실의 장점은 무엇인가? | 즉 증강현실은 현실을 대체한다기 보다는 보완하는 것으로 가상현실과 현실의 다리 역할을 한다[5]. 따라서 증강현실을 활용한 교육은 체험에 의한 학습 즉, ‘learning bydoing’을 지원함으로써[6], 학습자들로 하여금 학습 객체를 손으로 직접 조작하면서 능동적인 학습을 진행하도록 유도하여 흥미와 몰입감을 높일 수 있다. 다시 말해서 가상현실과 증강현실은 교육 분야에서 학습자가 직접 관찰하기 어렵거나 텍스트와 2D 자료로 설명하기 어려운 학습의 내용, 가시화하기 어려운 내용, 추상적인 학습개념을 학습하기에 적합하다. 그리고 위험이 따르는 학습이나 경비가 많이 드는 실험 등의 교육 분야에 적용하기에 유용하다[7]. 이러한 가상현실의 장점 때문에 최근 교육에증 강현실 기술을 활용하여 학습 경험을 향상시키기 위한 다양한 연구들이 이루어지고 있다[8-11]. |
