SNS 중독 경향성은 대학 생활 적응에 27%의 설명력을 보였다. 이 연구의 결론은 SNS 중독 경향성이 간호대학생의 대학 생활 적응에 부적인 영향을 미친다는 것이다. 향후 간호대학생의 대학 생활 적응을 향상시키기 위해 SNS 중독 경향성을 치료하는 프로그램을 마련해야 하며, 치료를 시작해야 하는 SNS 중독 경향성 기준점을 파악하는 연구가 이루어져야 할 것이다.

The purpose of this study was to understand the influence of social network site (SNS) addiction on the ability of nursing students to adjust to university life and to generate the basic data to develop programs that could improve this ability. The data was collected from questionnaires that were filled out by 255 nursing students in two universities located in Jeollanam-do and Gyeonggi-do from May 16, 2020 to May 20, 2020. The data was analyzed using the SPSS 23.0 program (frequency, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, multiple regression). The mean scores of SNS addiction and adjustment to university life were 2.16±0.54 (range:1-5) and 3.13±0.39 (range:1-5) respectively. SNS addiction accounts for 27% of the variance in adjustment to university life. The study concluded that SNS addiction negatively affects adjustment to university life among nursing students. To ensure better adjustment a program should be developed to treat SNS addiction early. Also, a study will have to be conducted to determine the time when tendency toward SNS addiction becomes apparent, to initiate treatment.

가설 설정

SNS 중독의 원인과 결과를 설명하는 이론으로는 인지 행동 모델[18]과 사회적 기술 모델[19] 2가지가 있다. 인지 행동 모델은 잘못된 SNS 적응 인지 및 사회적 고립이 SNS 중독을 유발한다고 가정하고, 결과적으로 저하된 충동 제어로 사용을 중지할 수 없고 사회적 고립을 악화시키고, 자기 가치를 감소시키는 등의 행동적 증상을 가져온다는 것이다[18]. 사회적 기술 모델은 개인의 실제 생활에서의 사회적 통제 능력 부족과 얼굴을 맞대고 하는 상호작용보다 가상의 통신을 선호하기 때문에 SNS 중독을 유발한다고 가정하고, 결과적으로 학교 또는 개인적 관계에 문제가 생긴다는 것이다[19].

대상 데이터

본 연구의 대상자는 전라남도에 소재한 S 대학교와 경기도에 소재한 D 대학교 두 대학교의 간호학과 전 학년에 재학 중인 학생이며 2020년 5월 16일부터 5월 20일까지 자기기입식 설문지를 배부한 후 설문지를 작성하도록 하였으며 편의 추출하여 자료를 수집하였다. 자료수집 기간은 코로나 19로 인하여 대학이 비대면 수업을 하다가 대면 수업으로 전환하여 오프라인 수업을 시작한 기간이었다.
15(medium), 독립변수 6개(일반적 특성 5개, SNS 중독 경향성)로 계산하였을 때, 연구에 필요한 표본수인 146명 이상을 충족하였다. 탈락률을 고려하여 총 300명에게 설문 조사를 실시하였고 그 중 265명이 응답하였고 불충분한 대답을 한 10명을 제외한 255명의 설문지 결과를 최종적으로 분석하였다.

데이터처리

0으로 프로그램을 이용하여 분석하였다. 대상자의 일반적인 특성, SNS 중독 경향성, 대학 생활 적응은 실수와 백분율, 평균과 표준편차로 산출하였고, 대상자의 일반적인 특성에 따른 SNS 중독 경향성, 대학 생활 적응의 차이는 t-test와 ANOVA, 사후검정은 scheffe test로 분석하였고, SNS 중독 경향성과 대학 생활 적응간의 상관관계는 Pearson correlation coefficients로 분석하였고, 일반적 특성, SNS 중독 경향성 등이 대학 생활 적응에 미치는 영향은 입력방법의 다중 회귀분석으로 분석하였다.
일반적 특성, SNS 중독 경향성 등이 대학 생활 적응에 미치는 영향을 확인하기 위해 일반적 특성(연령, 성별, 학년, SNS를 중단하고 싶은 이유), SNS 중독경향성 등을 독립변수로, 대학 생활 적응을 종속변수로 다중 회귀분석을 실시하였다.

이론/모형

Baker 등 [42]이 개발한 대학생 적응도 검사(SACQ: Student Adaptation to College Questionnaire, 이하 SACQ)를 번안·수정하여 문항 내적 일관성 검사와 요인분석으로 타당도와 신뢰도를 검증한 Lee [44]의 SACQ를 사용하였다.
Jung과 Kim [43]이 개발한 후 타당도와 신뢰도를 검증한 SNS 중독 경향성 도구를 사용하였다. 이 도구는 4개 영역(일상 생활 장애 및 조절실패:7문항, 몰입 및 내성:7문항, 부정 정서의 회피:5문항, 가상 세계 지향성 및 금단:5문항) 총 24문항으로 구성된다.
엇갈린 결과들이 보고되는 이유는 SNS 중독 경향성을 측정한 연구 도구의 차이에서 기인했다고 사료된다. 선행연구[40]는 대학생 SNS 중독 경향성 측정 도구를 사용하였고 선행연구[41]는 스마트폰 중독 자가 진단 도구를 사용하였다. 선행연구[41]는 SNS 중독 경향성을 스마트폰 중독 자가 진단도구로 측정하였기 때문에 타당도 결여로 제대로 측정되지 못했다고 사료된다.

성능/효과

SNS 중독 경향성과 대학 생활 적응간의 상관관계를 분석한 결과 SNS 중독 경향성은 대학 생활 적응 하부영역중 학문적응(r=-.097, p=.122), 사회적응(r=-.019, p=.766), 정서적응(r=-.079, p=.211), 신체적응(r=-.078, p=.213)과는 상관관계가 없었으나 대학에 대한 애착과는 부적 상관관계를 보였고(r=-.182, p=.004) 대학 생활 적응 전체와도 부적 상관관계를 보였다(r=-.133, p=.036)(Table 4).
SNS 중독 경향성은 대학 생활 적응 하위영역중 ‘대학에 대한 애착’에 부적 영향을 미쳤고(β=-.032, p=.004) 대학 생활 적응 전체에 부적 영향을 미쳤다(β=-.098, p=.036), 일반적 특성(연령, 학년, SNS를 중단하고 싶은 이유)과 SNS 중독 경향성 등의 변수는 대학 생활 적응 전체 변량의 27%를 설명하는 것으로 나타났다.
공차한계(Tolerance)값이 0.344∼0.682로 1 이하이면서 분산팽창지수(VIF: Variance Inflation Factor)값이 1.147∼2.905로 10보다 크지 않아 모든 독립변수들은 다중공선성에 문제가 없는 것으로 나타났고, Durbin-Watson값을 구한 결과 2.030으로 2에 근접하여 자기상관이 없는 것으로 나타났다.
남학생이 여학생 보다 대학 생활 적응 수준이 더 높았고, 학년별로는 4학년이 1,2학년보다 대학 생활 적응 수준이 높았고, SNS 사용을 중단하고 싶은 이유에서 ‘기타’가 ‘타인과 차이점이 보여서’보다 대학 생활 적응 수준이 높았다(table3).
다중 회귀분석 전에 회귀분석 가정을 충족하는지 검정한 결과 모두 충족한 것으로 나타나 회귀분석의 결과는 신뢰할 수 있는 것으로 판단되었다. 공차한계(Tolerance)값이 0.
대상자의 SNS 중독 경향성은 1-4점 범위중 평균 2.16점(±0.54)이었고 총점 24-96점 범위중 평균 51.89점(±12.98)이었다.
대상자의 대학 생활 적응은 1-5점 범위중 평균 3.13점(±0.39)이었고 총점 25-125점 범위중 평균 78.27점(±9.68)이었고 대학 생활 적응의 하부영역들은 1-5점 범위중 학문적응은 평균 2.91점(±.0.49), 사회적응은 평균 3.37점(±.0.55), 정서적응은 평균 3.13점(±0.39), 신체적응은 평균 2.99점(±0.51), 학교 애착은 평균 3.22점(±0.46)이었다(Table 2).
대상자의 일반적 특성에 따른 SNS 중독 경향성에 유의한 차이가 있는 변수는 성별(t=3.19, p=.043), 학년(F=3.64, p=.013), SNS 사용시간 (F=4.73, p=.001)으로 나타났다. 여학생이 남학생보다 SNS 중독 경향성이 더 높고, 3학년이 4학년보다 SNS 중독 경향성이 더 높고, SNS 사용시간이 1시간 이상이 1시간 미만보다 SNS 중독 경향성이 더 높았다(table3).
대상자의 일반적 특성에 따른 대학 생활 적응에 유의한 차이가 있는 변수는 성별(t=4.49, p=.012), 학년(F=3.65, p=.013), SNS 사용을 중단하고 싶은 이유(F=3.44, p=.009)로 나타났다. 남학생이 여학생 보다 대학 생활 적응 수준이 더 높았고, 학년별로는 4학년이 1,2학년보다 대학 생활 적응 수준이 높았고, SNS 사용을 중단하고 싶은 이유에서 ‘기타’가 ‘타인과 차이점이 보여서’보다 대학 생활 적응 수준이 높았다(table3).
대상자의 일반적 특성중 여학생이 남학생보다 SNS 중독 경향성이 높았다. 본 연구결과를 선행연구[40,41,47,48]와 비교해 보면 [40]은 성별에 따른 차이가 없다고 보고하여 본 결과와 상이했고 [41,47,48]은 여학생이 남학생 보다 SNS 중독 경향성이 높다고 보고하여본 결과와 동일하였다.
또한 SNS 중독 경향성이 대학 생활 적응에 부정적 영향을 미친다는 점을 발견하였고 SNS 중독 경향성이 대학 생활 적응 하위영역 중 ‘대학에 대한 애착’에 부정적 영향을 미침을 발견하였다는 점이다.
본 연구에서 대상자의 일반적 특성에서 하루에 2시간 이상 SNS를 사용하는 대상자가 전체의 65.4%이었고 학업 집중력이 떨어지기 때문에 SNS를 중단하고 싶어하는 대상자가 전체의 44.3 %이었다. 유럽 6개국(그리스, 스페인, 폴란드, 네덜란드, 루마니아, 아이슬란드)의 청소년 10,930명을 대상으로 한 선행연구[46]에서 SNS를 하루에 2시간 이상 사용하는 것은 당면한 문제를 내면화시키고 학업 성과를 떨어뜨린다고 보고한 결과에 미루어보아 현 간호대학생은 과도하게 SNS를 사용하고 있다고 판단된다.
SNS 중독 경향성이 크면 새로운 위기를 극복하지 못해 달성해야 할 발달과업을 제대로 수행하지 못하기 때문이다. 셋째 SNS 사용이 제일 많은 연령대가 20대[2]이고 연령대가 20대인 간호학과 대학생도 SNS를 많이 사용하기 때문이다. 20대는 부모와 교사의 간섭이 중,고등학생에 비하여 줄어들고 시간적 여유 있어서 SNS 사용이 제일 많다.

일반적 특성에 따른 SNS 중독 경향성 차이는 성별, 학년, SNS 사용시간 등으로 나타났고, 일반적 특성에 따른 대학 생활 적응 차이는 성별, 학년, ‘SNS를 중단하려는 이유’ 등으로 나타났다.
‘전혀 그렇지 않다’ 1점에서 ‘매우 그렇다’ 4점까지 부여하였다. 전체 SNS 중독 경향성의 가능한 최소점수는 24점, 가능한 최대점수는 96점이다. Jung과 Kim [43] 연구에서 Cronbach' α=.
회귀모형을 분석한 결과 회귀모형은 유의한 것으로 나타났으며(F=4.45, p=.036) 모형의 설명력을 나타내는 수정된 결정계수(Adj R²)는 27%로 나타났다.

후속연구

본 연구는 2개 대학만을 대상으로 실시하였음으로 본 연구결과를 일반화하는 데는 주의가 필요하다는 제한점이 있다. SNS 중독 경향성을 치료해야 할 필요성은 제시하였으나 치료를 시작해야 하는 중독 경향성 cut off를 제시하지 못했다는 제한점이 있다.
